I remember potty training my first son like it was yesterday! (For the record, it happened 26 years ago!) If he even walked in the general vicinity of his special made-for-toddler’s throne, it merited squeals from the Team Gaver cheer squad. Sitting on the potty with his diaper on even elicited thunderous applause. If he was lucky enough (and in the early stages, that’s exactly what it was….LUCK) to actually make a deposit, he earned a special toy from the “potty training prize patrol” basket. “Yay for Craig!!!!” Yeah…. I read WAY too many parenting books back in those days.
But eventually, with patience, perseverance, and an overabundant distribution of Matchbox cars, Craig became a card carrying member of the big boy club. The irony is that one day, 2 ½ years later, big brother Craig said to his younger brother, who was about to enroll in Gaver’s vigorous potty training program, “hey Kevin… wanna see how big boys go to the bathroom?” And in one, very persuasive presentation, son no. 2 was trained. Voila!
I’ve officially been blogging for a little over a week. In that brief time, I’ve mastered how to add graphics to a post. For an encore, I even mastered the art of linking posts to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. This week I hope to venture into the wild, wonderful world of video.
Thanks to those who have taken the time to post comments and for the numerous private e-mails of support. Although the life of a blogger can get lonely at times, Google Analytics tells me that in a very short time, my “potty training” is being watched and supported. “Yay for learning something new!!!”
Now…. Where is my sticker?
