This week is Fashion Week in NYC which is unfortunate because it coincides with the 100th day in a row that we’ve had rain. OK, maybe that’s a small exaggeration but it sure feels that way. It’s hard to get excited about fashion when you can’t seem to pry yourself out of your extreme weather outfit.
Since my office is in my home, I have the luxury of wearing whatever I want during “office hours.” If a particular work week does not include an abundance of speaking engagements or outside meetings, I’ve been known to wear the same outfit for what apparently exceeds the socially acceptable timeline for costume changes! Add to that, extreme weather (rain and snow predominantly) and….well…. my interest in hair and make-up go down the tube as well.
My husband claims that if you have ever slept in a particular article of clothing, it qualifies as pajamas. I prefer to adopt Oprah’s philosophy by calling my casual wear, “loungewear.”
My “loungewear” conists of a pair of hot pink fleece bottoms that are approximately 2 sizes too big, paired with any kind of top that is nonconstricting. (Comfort is key when it has rained for 100 days. Fleece and ubersized clothing are the two main essential components to selecting your “I’m going to be holed up in this house forever” wardrobe.)
Whether my top happens to clash with hot pink is not an issue that keeps me up at night. Hair is pulled on top of my head in a scrunchie and….well…. let’s just say the only people who get to catch a glimpse of this freak show are the people who love me unconditionally and appreciate me most for my inner beauty. 🙂
So, let the catwalk begin. I can’t wait to see what’s going to the next fashion hot picks. I’m placing my bets on pink fleece!
It can stop raining now!
