This evening I began putting my yard and gardens “to bed.” That is the term I use for putting away all the staging elements in the yard, cutting down spent flowers, and weeding. It’s my way of saying goodbye (officially) to Summer in order to fully embrace the glorious Fall.
Because Hurricane Sandy’s effects are expected to shake, rattle, and roll as far as Maryland, I had no choice but to make “bedtime” earlier than planned.
I took this photo of my rose arbor who seemed to be sending me a message today, don’t you think? It’s as if she is saying–
“You can put me to bed but you cannot make me sleep.”
Sweet dreams, beautiful one, sweet dreams.
