On a suggestion of a friend, we created a new level of involvement for our garden party this year: The Flip Flop! Five fun & fabulous women signed up to show their support. I’d love for you to meet:
Suzanne Levitt, co-owner of Christmas on the Hill, a local Holiday Artisan Market. Held every year the weekend after Thanksgiving, it’s the perfect way to begin your holiday shopping, get in the spirit, and support local talented artists who make a wide variety of treasures. Every year I go with great intentions to start my shopping but I must confess…. my purchasing demeanor goes something like this…. “something for Mom…. something for ME….something for Nancy…..something for ME! You get the point? So check it out this year! Suzanne, Cary, and their son Carson are a super-fun family and it won’t be long till you feel like you’re part of theirs! Thanks Suzanne!
Leesa Ruderman is one of my “ginger sisters” and a dear friend whom I met at church many years ago. We share a love of raising sons, decorating, cooking, and anything home & garden related. She has been one of my biggest supporters, attending book signings, garden parties, my debut as an Alzheimer Gala “Dancing Star” and all things SHOES! She has one of the most beautiful souls and makes being a friend so very easy. Leesa was one of the Ginger Trio that took NYC by storm last year with our first “Rock it Like a Redhead” event! Thanks Leesa!
Lori Benedetto teaches CPR and First Aid Training, which is something I need to renew this year. (Note to self: Call Lori to set this up!) 🙂 We met through Facebook which is why I love this form of social media so much. She is a “new friend fit to become an old one” and I’m looking forward to getting to know her so that instead of Facebook friends, we can be face-to-face friends. Thanks Lori, for your faith in my cause!
Mjach Designs is owned by Melissa Lentz, a woman I had the good fortune to meet last year when she signed up for our “Must Love Shoes” event at The Kitchen Studio. I knew instantly that we would become friends, she just has that way about her like you have known her forever. She believes and supports many causes, most recently biking an obscene amount of miles to benefit San Mar Children’s Home and Foster Care. In her free time, Melissa is one of the most fun Zumba instructors I know. How she can smile through an entire hour of shakin’ and movin’ when I can barely get through it is beyond me! But that’s our Melissa! Thanks!
What you need to know about our final flip flop girl, Terry Drankiewicz, is that she never does anything half-way! I knew Terry professionally through her work in the banking industry and then we lost touch for a while, surfacing recently. 🙂 Am I glad she did. Terry takes the shoe collection seriously when she attends, bringing bags and bags of shoes. In fact, it’s people like Terry who made it possible last year for us to donate 543 pairs of children shoes! Terry is one of those people who feels deeply and that’s what I love most about her. Kindred spirits, for sure. Thanks Terry, for always going above and beyond.
And there you have it! So, I’m signing off now until the party because it’s time to stop talking and get busy! But before I do, I’d like to leave you with this thought:
“What you put in your space is the most autobiographical thing of all because it’s an extension of the deepest part of you.” Gloria Vanderbilt
I’m looking forward to my outdoor space being filled with the most generous, talented, graceful, and grace-filled women on August 1st.
I am blessed.
