We’re getting a houseguest today! Nicole Jeray is one of the young women who will be competing in the LPGA Futures Golf Tournament to be held this coming week at Musket Ridge Golf Course. She’s arriving today and will be staying with us in the coming week.
I’m so excited to be a host family. I always thought it would be fun to have someone, in addition to those I gave birth to, come for a visit. Even better, how fun to have another female in the house for a change! I’m going out on a limb here and guessing she probably hangs up her wet towels when she takes a shower!
To be truthful, I really know nothing about golf unless you count the time I wowed my family by expertly and strategically hitting a hole in one at Ocean City’s Pirate’s Cove, entitling me to the honor and glory of one free game and a lifetime of bragging rights.
I participated in a women’s golf clinic over 17 years ago when I worked at a CPA firm. Unfortunately, I excavated the ground on the driving range due to an apparent overzealous swing. The golf pro that day told me I was a little “tense” and that I should “lighten” up but I ask you…. wouldn’t you be tense if you had just dug up enough dirt to bury every dead goldfish, hamster, or hermit crab for every kid living in the entire surrounding neighborhood?
During my second and final attempt at golf, I was told I “talked too much”, a comment that was also made to me when I attempted quilting lessons as well, which explains why, to date, I am neither a golfer or a quilter. Isn’t the point of both of these hobbies to enjoy oneself? But I digress…
So, Nicole arrives this evening and I am dreaming up ways of allowing her to experience the best of our little town and our beautiful state of Maryland. This will involve a large pot of Maryland Crab Soup.
Now, THAT, I’m good at!
And apparently, no one cares if you talk while you cook!
